Bansky rides to Bethlehem

No Jesus

Bansky’s annual art exhibition has travelled to a chicken shop in Bethlehem, just opposite the actual birthplace of Santa Claus.

Last year his Santa’s Ghetto was held in a closed down shoe shop on Oxford Street, seeing queues forming at all hours of the day. This year they hope to attract some art-loving tourists to the little town of Bethlehem to indulge in their Christmas fare.

Banksy’s use of the West Bank barrier began in 2005, which runs beside Bethlehem. The wall has (predictably) sparked controversy between Israel and the Palestines, the former dubbing it a security measure and the latter condemning it as a land grab. Maybe the art, as pictured, will provoke some of that good old-fashioned Christmas spirit in the 98% non-Christian community.
